Photograph of Toto by Patricia Seaton. Toto was found in rural Madagascar, badly malnourished and with severe mange. She is now healthy and happy, and shares her forever home with four of her canine brothers and sisters.

Since 2006, we have led the effort to rescue, rehabilitate, and find forever homes for abused, neglected, and abandoned animals in Madagascar. We are at the forefront of changing attitudes and minds about animals in Madagascar.

Most of the dogs are underfed and mistreated when they arrive at our safe haven. We feed them and re-socialise them. Some of the transformations have just been unbelievable. Scared, thin and abused animals become man’s best friend, again and again!

Vet Clinic, our partner, provides world class medical services for our dogs. We are a no-kill shelter and go the extra mile to make sure our animals are healthy and happy.

In fact, all rescued dogs and cats are spayed and neutered! They are dewormed regularly and all their vaccines are up to date. In a country where rabies is still a big problem this is very important!

Prospective dog owners goes through a strict selection process. It would be counter-productive if one of our dogs ended up at with people who are not 100% committed to his/her welfare.

SOS is an oasis for animals in a place with few options. The very existence of this organization brings hope not only to the countless animals they have saved, but to all of those people who believe that animals are worth saving.
